Four U.S. Coast Guard patrol boats from other areas were docked at the Port of Morgan City facility on Youngs Road during Hurricane Ike. Two of the vessels were from the Galveston, Texas, and Corpus Christi, Texas, area and the other two are normally stationed in western Louisiana. The Port of Morgan City again served as a “safe haven” during the recent storms while neighboring ports in Fourchon and Iberia were inundated by the tidal flooding.
